About the Screenplay
Kasserine is a historical war drama based on the events surrounding America’s first major confrontation with German forces in North Africa during World War II.
The story follows Sergeant Harry Harris and the soldiers fighting alongside him as they move from Operation Torch into the brutal Tunisian campaign. What begins with confidence in an American army eager to enter the war becomes a desperate struggle against experienced German troops, devastating artillery, armored formations, and the terrifying effectiveness of German tanks.
Against the soldiers’ fight for survival, the screenplay moves into the Allied command structure, where Eisenhower, Fredendall, Truscott and other senior officers wrestle with intelligence, strategy and the consequences of decisions made far from the men carrying them out.
At Kasserine, those two worlds collide. American positions collapse, units lose contact, tanks are destroyed, and ordinary soldiers are forced to improvise simply to stay alive.
More than a battlefield story, Kasserine is about an army learning how to fight a modern war—the hard way.
